The Bay Area Tumor Institute operates the only adult cancer tissue collection network west of the Mississippi. The Institute collects fresh malignant and matching normal tissue for scientific study by qualified cancer researchers in the Bay Area and worldwide. Tissue not used locally is sent to the Cooperative Human Tissue Network for worldwide distribution.

Applicants must be associated with a recognized research or academic institution and be approved for participation by the Cooperative Human Tissue Network.
