COURSE DESCRIPTION
This six-hour continuing education
course is designed for all oncology nurses. It will focus
on cancers of the breast and ovary. The goal of this course is
to enhance the nurse’s understanding of the diagnosis and
treatments of these two female cancers, thereby providing the
oncology nurse with the necessary foundation to care for these
patients. The program will include presentations on the
disease process and treatment modalities, insight into
the nursing management of side effects from various treatment
modalities, an overview of alternative therapies, and consideration
of the role of diet in therapy and recovery. Overall, this
program will increase knowledge, clinical skills, and sensitivity
of nurses who care for women.
